To provide Child Passenger Safety Technicians (CPS Tech) the processes, tools, and based on the experience of real Tribal injury prevention folks.

To help current CPS Technicians retain their certification by providing them the resources needed to deliver child passenger restraint education.

CPS Technician education

Providing child restraint education to your community not only raises awareness of the value of using child restraints, it can aid in helping current CPS Technicians retain their certification.  Providing education to a community is a stipulated requirement of Safe Kids Worldwide (the CPS Technician certifying organization) to recertify.  The recertification process that must be completed every two years and involves several steps, including providing at least four hours of community education. (See below for the CPS Tech certification/recertification process).

What is a Child Passenger Safety Technician?

A Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Technician is an individual who has completed a standardized curriculum on proper child passenger safety, which is provided by Safe Kids Worldwide.  These individuals are trained to educate parents and caregivers on how to properly use their children proper child passenger safety, which is provided by through an intense one-week course, where the latest child passenger safety information is child in the seat.  These individuals have considerable knowledge and expertise at a variety of community-based activities, such as child safety seat checks, where parents and caregivers receive education and hands-on assistance. CPS technicians and instructors also keep up-to-date on the latest technical information about child passenger safety through seminars and other continuing education opportunities.
