The Native CARS Atlas provides information about the successful data collection and intervention strategies that demonstrated effectiveness during the implementation of the Native CARS Study in six northwest Tribes.

The Native CARS Atlas also provides downloadable media materials, intervention tools, and intervention protocols to facilitate similar interventions in additional Tribes or Tribal communities. These include:

  • Child passenger restraint use data collection protocols
  • Suggested approaches for community engagement
  • Step-by-step considerations for intervention development
  • Strategies for measuring intervention implementation
  • Outcome evaluation methods

The Native CARS Atlas offers ten sequential modules:

  1. Intro
  2. Build and organize your coalition
  3. Check your community’s readiness
  4. Define the problem with data
  5. Make data-driven plans to improve use
  6. Create a data-driven awareness campaign
  7. Provide child passenger restraint education
  8. Implement or access a child safety seat distribution program
  9. Develop policy and law enforcement interventions
  10. Demonstrate your progress and successes

While you can go through the Native CARS Atlas in ten sequential modules, we also organized it so you can pick and choose individual modules based on your needs.
